A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT EST WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

SNOW WILL DEVELOP AFTER MIDNIGHT… AND WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES DURING THE WEDNESDAY MORNING COMMUTE.

MAXIMUM HOURLY SNOWFALL RATES WILL BE 1 INCH PER HOUR IN NARROW BANDS. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 5 INCHES ARE LIKELY.

AS THE LOW GETS CLOSER TO THE REGION… WARM AIR ALOFT WILL MOVE RAPIDLY NORTH AND CHANGE THE SNOW TO RAIN. A BRIEF PERIOD OF FREEZING RAIN OR SLEET IS LIKELY WITH ICE ACCUMULATIONS LESS THAN ONE TENTH OF AN INCH. THIS TRANSITION WILL OCCUR BY 11 AM WEDNESDAY MORNING.

INCREASING EAST TO SOUTHEAST WINDS OFF THE ATLANTIC WILL CAUSE TEMPERATURES TO RISE QUICKLY ABOVE 32 DEGREES CAUSING JUST PLAIN RAIN BY 11 AM. PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN MAY CAUSE MINOR URBAN FLOODING OF LOW LYING POOR DRAINAGE AREAS DURING WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

AS THE LOW INTENSIFIES AND MOVES NORTHEAST… COLDER AIR WILL RUSH SOUTHEAST AND CHANGE THE RAIN BRIEFLY BACK TO SNOW BEFORE ENDING BY MIDNIGHT.

January 13, 2009 Weather: Generally Cloudy; Chance of Rain?

The weather today in Jersey City started off sunny, but then clouds covered the skies as the day progressed. Tonight, expect the weather to be cloudy with rain and snow showers this evening. Partial clearing overnight. Low 22F. Winds W at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of precip 60%.

Nothing significant about the weather in JC, except that it still feels colder than forecasted. The temperature forecast was around mid to high 30's but it feels like we are in the teens today.

Winter Storm Forces Delayed Start for NJ Schools

Tomorrow - January 7, 2009 (Wedensday) - expect heavy rains to greet your morning. The winter storm will affect not only Jersey City, but the entire North East, according to the storm watch issued by the National Weather Services:

...The Northeast is bracing for a wintry mess that will increase overnight and continue through Wednesday.

A combination of snow, sleet and freezing rain will bother areas from the Middle Atlantic region to New York and New England. Most East Coast cites will see mainly rain from this event. Sleet and freezing rain will spread northeastward from western Pennsylvania up into Southern New England by morning. A combination of snow, sleet and freezing rain will prevail across central and eastern New York into the center of New England. Northern sections of New York and New England will see plenty of snow, with some sleet mixing in at times. Some of these areas may see 6 to 12 inches of snow. Areas across northeast Ohio, western Pennsylvania will see snow and freezing rain changing to all rain on Wednesday...

Today in Jersey City feels warm. The weather temperature is now at 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and it is cloudy outside. Weather forecast said that rain is possible today. A SEVERE WEATHER ALERT has already been issued for Hudson County, NJ:

December 25-26, 2008 Weather: Gorgeous then

The weather yesterday (Christmas, December 25, 2008) in Jersey City was gorgeous -- it was sunny, not too cold, with a little bit of cloud. Gorgeous to say it simply.

On the other hand, we have some some showers today (December 26, 2008), which is a good thing as it melts down the remaining ice on the ground.

December 19, 2008 Weather: Snow Storm and Rain

The snow started falling around 10-1030 A, and it steadily dropped not only in Jersey City but in the entire New Jersey. Almost the entire Tri-State area was blanketed with snow, the first major storm of the season. How deep was the snow? The deepest was recorded in Sparta, NJ with 7.5" of snow. In Newark, NJ, the accumulation was 4.4", while here in Jersey City, it looked like we had 3.5" to 4" of snow.

In the late afternoon, though, the snow fall turned into rain, which lessen the accumulation in Jersey City. The rain temporarily stopped around 8PM, although there was a light freezing rain weather forecast. The temperature dropped as well.

December 16, 2008 Weather: "Flurrious" Start

It is bad outside, we have flurries and snow but there's no accumulation since it has accompanying rain. Wet and gray today in Jersey City.

The temperature is in the low 40's, but the forecast says we haven't seen the worse for today.

We are going to have more rain today, and probably some snow.

I'll update if something significant happens.

The first Winter Warning has been issued by the National Weather Services. It basically says Hudson County, New Jersey will experience up to half an inch of snow tonight. Read below for the warning.

According to nj.com, "On Wednesday commuters may slog through a messy mix of rain and snow, which will turn into rain in the late morning as temperatures climb to 40 degrees."

December 15, 2008 Weather: Record-Breaking Warmth!

The weather in Jersey City was warm the entire day. The temperature reached to mid to high 60's! According to the news, the temperature was record-breaking: 67 degrees Fahrenheit -- beating the old record of 63 degrees.

The wind made the day more gorgeous. It was like Spring or Fall again.

It rained a little at night, though, around 7 in the evening.

Weather forecast says that tomorrow (December 16, 2008) will be the exact opposite of today. I guess we'll see.

December 12, 2008 Weather: Showers but a Little Better

It was wet yesterday in Jersey City, but luckily, we weren't adversely affected by flooding like in other parts of NJ.

The weather today got better. There's a little shower this morning with temperature in the 30's. It will climb to 40 degrees Fahrenheit, but will drop to 20's in the afternoon and night.

As a summary: Rain showers this morning with some sunshine during the afternoon hours. High 41F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 80%.

December 11, 2008 Weather: Rain all Through The Day

It's very dark in Jersey City this morning -- cloudy as a matter of fact. That is because the weather forecast yesterday is correct: it's going to rain today.

Right now, the temperature is in the high 30's and it will stay around that number. The rain will fall and will continue until tomorrow (Friday, Dec. 12). As a matter of fact, a severe weather alert in Hudson County, NJ was issued yesterday.

Sloppy day indeed, so make sure you are properly geared for the rain if you're going out of your house.

December 09, 2008 Weather: Cold Start Then Mild

It was a cold start today in Jersey City, with temperature in the 30's. But as the day progressed, the temperature climb to 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and right now, it is in the low 50's. The weather forecast was correct: it turned mild today.

It was definitely cloudy and became darker in the afternoon. Later in the evening, there was a shower, but it didn't persist.

The weather forecast for tomorrow (Dec. 10, 2008) says temperature will be in the 60's, but it will also rain, not only in Hudson County but also in New York City. News said there "might" be a chance of "Severe Weather Alert" so stay tuned.

December 06, 2008 Weather: First Snow Flakes of Winter

First snow flakes dropped in Jersey City at around 8PM. The weather temperature is within the 30's, but it rained a little then it snowed.

It wasn't sticking to the grounds, but the snow flakes accumulated on top of the cars, bushes, grasses, and plants.

Tomorrow, forecasts say that it is going to be windy so watch out.

December 04, 2008 Weather: Cloudy, Chance of Rain

Looks like the good weather in Jersey City comes in spurts nowadays. It wasn't that bad this morning, although temperature was in the high 30's -- it wasn't that cold. At noon, clouds began to cover the skies, and birds flew around. "It's supposed to rain today." my co-worker said.

She was right. The light rain started in the afternoon, around 4Pm as the day grew darker. Right now, at 10PM, it is still drizzling.

Hoping to see a good weather tomorrow.

November 30, 2008 Weather: Rain/Showers

November is going to end in a bad weather note here in Jersey City. The morning started with rain, but it slowly downgraded to drizzle. At 10AM today, the current temperature is at 37 degrees Fahrenheit, but it will climb to mid-40's as the day progresses.

October 25, 2008: Windy! (Plus rain)

Sometimes, the best way to forecast the weather is through the birds. For example, the pigeons in Journal Square area of Jersey City were flying deliriously, and that meant one thing -- the weather is going to be bad.
